There are many publications across Medium that do not display their number of followers. Even though there are many publications that choose to display the number of Medium users who are following them, there are certain publications (including Geek Culture) that currently choose not to display the number of followers on its homepage.

In this article, I am going to introduce a simple two step guide that anyone can follow in order to find out the number of followers of any Medium publication, even if this number does not show up on the homepage of the publication itself. And at this point I want to highlight that this guide will always work for every publication available on Medium.

Why it is useful to know the number of followers

It is absolutely normal for Medium writers to want to publish their Medium articles on popular publications which are followed by many readers. The more the followers of a publication, the more likely your article will gain visibility and potentially earn more money if you choose to make it eligible for earnings through the Medium Partner Program. Therefore, it is sometimes quite important to know the number of followers that a certain publication has on Medium, so that you can choose where to publish your article wisely and make sure that your article will reach as many readers as possible.

Step 1: Search for the publication

The first thing you need to do is simply search for the publication by typing its name on the Search bar on the top right of your screen and click Enter.

Now head to the Stories tab in the Search page and find a story that is published in the publication you are looking for. If you can’t find any in the top results, simply go to the publication and find a story and then search for that particular article.

Step 2: Hover your mouse over the publication name

Now in the search results, simply hover your mouse over the publication name which is placed just after the story’s author name. In other words, simply place your mouse over that area without clicking on the publication name.

Voila! Once you hover your mouse over the publication name, a pop-up will appear that includes the name of the publication along with its short description and the number of readers who are currently following it.

Conclusion

In this article, we explore a very quick way that you can follow in order to find out the number of followers of any publication here on Medium.

If you want to reach more people and boost your earnings through the Medium Partner Program you should always consider publishing your articles on publications that share relevant content and are popular too, meaning that they are being followed by many readers. This guide will help you find out how many Medium readers are currently following a particular publication so that you can decide whether submitting your article to that specific publication will actually help your post reach the right (amount of) audience.
